Privacy Policy
Repose is a desktop EPUB reader developed by Low Tide Studio. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We've written it to be read, not archived.

DATA HANDLING
What we collect
Future versions
When account and sync features are introduced, we may collect your email address, reading progress, highlights and notes (if you opt into cloud backup), and basic usage analytics (opt-in). We will update this policy before any such features are released and will ask for your consent.
Third-party services
Certain optional features use external services to function. These services are only contacted when you explicitly invoke the relevant feature — never in the background. Repose does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Repose does not sell personal data and does not use these services for advertising or tracking purposes. Each service is only used when you actively invoke the relevant feature.
Translation
When you use the translation feature, the selected text is transmitted to DeepL for processing. The text is used solely to generate a translation and is subject to DeepL's privacy policy. No text is sent unless you explicitly trigger a translation.
Dictionary lookups
When you look up a word definition, the selected word is sent to an external dictionary API powered by Wiktionary data. Only the queried word is transmitted. No account or identifying information is included in the request.
Text-to-speech
Repose's text-to-speech feature runs entirely on your device using local speech models powered by Piper. No text is ever transmitted outside your device when using offline voices.

POPIA rights & data security
Your POPIA rights
As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to know whether we hold personal information about you, request access or correction, request deletion, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Data security
Currently, all your data lives on your own device — you are in full control. When cloud features are introduced, your data will be stored on secure servers with appropriate technical and organisational measures in line with POPIA.
